What a Sunday is like

The 10am Sung Family Mass is busy and lively. Children and young people of every age are welcome, every week, and there is a children’s corner for under 8s — a safe, carpeted space in the church itself. Feel free to move around the building during the service, or pop out and come back in again. We want everybody to feel relaxed.

On the Sundays they are running, children from 5 to 11 are invited to Children’s Church in the Crypt Room, and 11 to 18 year olds to Youth Church in the Sacristy, returning to the main body of the church in time for Communion. Neither runs every week, so it is worth checking if you are coming especially for one — though you never need to check before bringing a child to church. Baptisms, weddings and funerals

We hope you will find a home at St Mary’s to mark the important steps through life. Each has its own page, with what to expect and who to speak to:

• Baptisms and christenings — usually the first Sunday of the month, for children or adults.
• Weddings and banns — marrying here, or having banns read if you are marrying elsewhere.
• Funerals — in church, at a crematorium chapel, or in the churchyard.
